Even worse than most airport hotels, none of which are ever good. Most notable - the restaurant was ridiculously overpriced and the food appallingly bad.

This is a lower level hotel for the economy traveler. The hotel is only one step above true economy hotels.

By check in time over 15 guests were waiting in the lobby to check in, yet there was only one person operating the check in desk.

My husband and I entered the hotel parking lot trying to miss the huge line of people waiting for a bus with their entire luggage in tow. My first thought was that the JFK airport ramp had closed leaving all of these people stranded. It was a Thursday evening and a long working week for me (switching hotels daily). The greeting at the hotel front desk was lukewarm to say the least. The hotel representative asked for my name and after he looked it up told me that they were filled and were shuttling people to other hotels. I told him I had Pricelined and already paid for the evening so he gave me a voucher for a nearby hotel. I cannot tell you what the Doubletree was like. Filthy floors, black mold in the tub and my personal favorite the toilet paper was secured to its holder by a hotel pen. ...read more

dirty.
When we got there they did not have a room for us. They said the hotel was over booked. We had to wait a half hour for a room. Once we got in the room it was dirty with used towels there were no clean towels for us to use. No smoke detector it was pulled off and broke. The most disgusting hotel I ever stayed in. Very unhappy! ...read more

I have always enjoyed my stays at Doubletree and Hilton hotels and my experience has been top notch. I've always felt very well taken care of at your facilities. This was a factor in my disappointment with my stay at the JFK Doubletree. I'd like to list the issues that I found to be lacking for the level and reputation of the facilities: 1) Upon my arrival at JFK I used the the courtesy phone at baggage claim to call the hotel and ask for a ride. I was curtly told that I needed to take the airtrain and travel to Federal Circle and call back. This was at 10pm. At 10:25pm I called again from Federal Circle and was told that a van would be sent right out. After waiting for 25 minutes I called the hotel again asking how long I should expect to wait for the courtesy van. I was told two more minutes. After five minutes the van arrived. The driver was polite and courteous and helpful, but offered no explanation for the delay so I just assumed that the hotel was a distance from the airport. I was surprised when the hotel was less than five minutes away. My feedback is that if the van indeed came as quickly as possible the hotel clerk should have either told me that I would have a 30 minute wait, or they should have sent the van when I called from baggage claim knowing full well it would take the time needed to get to the pickup point to get the van out there. In comparison, the Holiday Inn and Days Inn vans were coming by every five minutes or so. 2) At arrival at the hotel at 11pm, the clerks were courteous and available to help the small crowd that arrived. Check in was speedy and without issue. ...read more

Driver did not help me trying to catch plane, just left me standing there. Didn’t wait to help me out of the lobby.

and location.
Have stayed many times before at this hotel and the staff was always friendly and helpful no matter what hour of day. This time around I was disappointed by their cold reception from the driver, reception and cleaning crew. Likewise their restaurant Sunday buffet was poor. Overcooked food, spoiled fruit, stale baked goods and inattentive staff. On another note I never got a cookie. Service is a priority in my job and this experience was not pleasant. ...read more
